Clyde Valley Scooter Cub. The Clyde Valley Scooter club (or the lovely CVS as we are widely known), was formed by our leader, the one and only Davie Couples in Airdrie in the year 1981. A lot of thought was put into the formation of the CVS and was formed because, and I quote the chairman and leader Davie here "Because me and my friends had scooters and thought it would be a good idea". Although setting up the club was hard coming up with the name was even worse for the guys in the old and after many an argument they decided to call themselves after none other than the Clyde Valley, wait for it!, Phone Book...well I guess all there names were in it...so why not. The CVS began to grow and pulled its members from near and far, including Livingston, Uphall, Falkirk, Greenock and of course AIR-D-E-REEE!!! (As Couples would put it after a few pints of heavy). In its hay-day, 81 to 83 the CVS had over 100 members on the books, however this has dropped over the years as they all grew older and went of to pursue other hobbies, normally whatever the wife told them, and now there are around 25 members on the book. Throughout the years the CVS has won various trophies, with the most prestigeous being club of the year 1983 and Scottish club of the year in 1994 and 1995. Most of the members today own Vespas, however there are a couple of Lambretta owners and we still meet every Monday night at the Broomfeild Tavern in Airdrie, under the watchful eye of Davie 'still our chairman' Couples. As always we welcome new members and visits to our Monday meetings at the Tavern. Meeting: Every Monday night -
